Summertime date night! I've had this gorgeous romper for a while now but I hadn't found just the right occasion to wear it. I was so excited to go out to the National Harbor over the weekend because I finally got the chance (and it was super fun)! It ended up being the perfect thing for shopping, sand, and sunset. I actually found this jacket in a boutique while we were there, and it made the romper just dressy enough for a nice seaside dinner. Rompers are such a great alternative to dresses and are definitely becoming a staple item in my wardrobe.

Rainy Day Minis

Today I ended up with a mini skirt, a mini satchel, and mini boots (booties if you will) to match. Paired with my favorite Madewell denim I was good to go. My illusion rain boots are perfect for a day like today where there's a threat of rain but you have no idea if or when it's actually going to come. With the crazy storms and flash floods here in Maryland, they're going to be seeing a lot of action this summer (a lot more than I would like--thank goodness they're so cute).

Monochrome

So it looks like I'm currently living in my new pairs of A&F destroyed shorts. Although I thought I left Abercrombie back in middle school, their shorts are too perfect to pass up (at only $25!). This look is definitely one of my favorites so far. I really wanted to dress up the denim and dress down the blouse and I love how it turned out! Not to mention my new pumps were a STEAL. This one is looking like a new summer staple for me.

Flamingo Pink

You know your day is going well when your headband breaks in the middle of shooting and your hair becomes a little improvised (lol). Anyway, these pink shoes really stood out to me today for no real reason, but I ended up really liking them for the outfit. They usually make an appearance when I wear white 'cause they're a statement of their own. I went with a casual look and ended up with even more casual hair so I guess that worked out! Definitely not sacrificing comfort here right?

Sapphire & Faded Jeans

Today was a day for complete comfort in my new metallic Birkenstocks (love!). My scarf was hand picked in Italy by a friend, and it made me feel so ready to jet-set on my own European adventure that I have coming up in July. Although it's far too hot here for jackets, I have to have versatile combinations and layering for the unpredictable, cool London weather. For now I'm sticking with Sandals and short sleeves but I can't wait to see what else I come up with when I get there!

Infrared

I'm slowly starting to realize that where I live has a lot of trees. When I look back at my posts I feel like every background is green! I'm definitely going for a change of scenery soon.

Today was a lipstick day for me, and I planned my whole outfit around it. When wearing a bold color like this (which is once in a blue moon for me) I have to tone down the rest of my outfit, so I went with no color at all. Although I look like I'm going on an adventure in the woods, this was the perfect outfit for a night out. p.s. I love Smashbox!

Studded Statements

YAY for new shoes! There's nothing like the confidence a new pair of heels gives you, and these Sam Edelman's are most definitely statement pieces. I've been looking for block heel sandals for a while now, and when these went on sale at Nordstrom Rack, I couldn't say no! At 92* I definitely made a mistake wearing jeans, but the look was perfect, so it was a small sacrifice. I gave it some summer flare with a strawberry crossbody (another one of my favorite new items).

The beautiful weather calls for a few splurges here and there!

Shady

From a shady outdoor hangout right into the city of D.C. this outfit wore wonderfully. I love a swing dress for summer but kept it casual (and comfortable) with my Converse, a new take on the classic Chuck Taylor style. (Definitely my favorite shoes at the moment.) Even though it was a little warm, this lightweight scarf was too cute to pass up, and the jacket was great for an indoor dinner.

I'm gearing up for my upcoming trip to London by brainstorming some chic city styles. What's your favorite urban look?
