Sweaters and Sunshine

I'm wearing shorts, I promise! I got this awesome chunky sweater on sale at the end of last season and I just couldn't wait until the fall to wear it. I'm officially in that summer to fall transition period, where everything I wear has a hint of the cold weather to come without giving up summer (especially in this heat). I guess you can tell because this is my second sweater & shorts outfit in a row. I rounded this one out with sandals and some brand new UO sunnies that I am in LOVE with! Fall is by far my favorite season to dress for so forgive me for getting there a little early!

Dressed Up Dolls

YES I'm wearing burgundy again! It's one of my absolute favorite colors for all seasons. And you may recognize this babydoll dress from my 4th of July post. I loved it so much that I had to get it in another color. Paired with this lightweight crepe blazer and heels, it's the perfect way to dress up a really casual piece. This old Jcrew bauble necklace is another one of my favorites that can be used for a nice semi-dressy occasion. I've been having so much fun playing around with dressed up and dressed down essentials lately.

Blue and Bluer

I went with a really basic outfit today that I ended up loving. Although I opted for minimal jewelry, my new favorite earrings and studded sandals made up for that. A super comfortable t-shirt and boyfriend denim jacket made for the perfect relaxed summer look. The navy on navy on navy on navy(ish) turned out much more flattering than I thought, so I'll definitely be styling looks like this again.

Blazer, Burgundy, Business

My second pseudo-workwear piece has become a personal favorite for me. I love the look of the long sleeves peeking out from the blazer cuffs, even though it might not be the most professional! I accented all the black with burgundy pants, and kept it dark but still casual. I absolutely love these DVF heels because they have the high heel d'orsay look while still being surprisingly comfortable, a must for a job in the city. I'm so excited about this internship so you can be sure that more work-esque looks are to come.

Functional Floral

Since I just got an internship in D.C. (YAY), I thought I would style a few workwear outfits, but a little more fun. I definitely bent the dress code with cuffed jeans and stiletto floral pumps, but it's such a cute mix of work and play. A nice collared shirt gives it that office feel without the restrictions of long sleeves or a full-tuck. If I could actually wear this to work I would (probably) be the best dressed person in my office, but unfortunately I think dress pants and flats may be in my future.

Flamingo Pink

You know your day is going well when your headband breaks in the middle of shooting and your hair becomes a little improvised (lol). Anyway, these pink shoes really stood out to me today for no real reason, but I ended up really liking them for the outfit. They usually make an appearance when I wear white 'cause they're a statement of their own. I went with a casual look and ended up with even more casual hair so I guess that worked out! Definitely not sacrificing comfort here right?

Shady

From a shady outdoor hangout right into the city of D.C. this outfit wore wonderfully. I love a swing dress for summer but kept it casual (and comfortable) with my Converse, a new take on the classic Chuck Taylor style. (Definitely my favorite shoes at the moment.) Even though it was a little warm, this lightweight scarf was too cute to pass up, and the jacket was great for an indoor dinner.

I'm gearing up for my upcoming trip to London by brainstorming some chic city styles. What's your favorite urban look?

Casual Cat

Smoking slippers are my favorite--minus the smoking. These leopard print flats are the perfect accent to any dressed-down outfit. The boyfriend jeans and t-shirt are slouchy and casual for a Saturday spent errand-running but the loafers add a little bit of flare. The rolled jeans with a short sleeve tee is just the thing for chilly sunless spring weather we've been having--just too cool for shorts without needing a jacket. I bought these jeans a size or two large to get the perfect slouch for this look, making them so perfectly comfy for an evening relaxing on the couch (one of my favorite activities). A kicking back outfit is a must-have addition to any closet!
